A Little Dinner РErich Th̦ny

Eduard Thöny (1866-1950) was born in Brixen, Austrian Tyrol, and died in Holzhausen am Ammersee in the Bavarian Alps. An art student in Montmartre in Paris in the early 1890s, Thöny was in the decade’s second great Art Nouveau center at the end of the decade: Munich, where he contributed to the first issue of Simplicissimus (1896)… and was still drawing for the weekly in its last year, 1944. His stylized drawings are noted for flat tones, limited color palette, and bloated military and society wastrels.
